David Blish is a director of healthcare consulting with Katz, Sapper & Miller’s Healthcare Resources Group. David helps hospitals, health systems, and physician groups devise strategic and financial solutions that help them grow, improve efficiency and profitability, and maximize opportunities.
David has extensive healthcare experience and provides in-depth consulting in the areas of hospital mergers and affiliations; physician alignment structures, including employment, clinically integrated networks, and co-management arrangements; clinical institute models, including specialty hospitals and bed towers; value-based reimbursement and compensation models; community health needs assessments; physician compensation planning, design, and performance measurement; population health management; physician group merger and integration; and clinical operations assessment of hospitals and physician practices. David has also assisted hospital clients with physician recruitment and negotiation, business/service line planning, joint venture development, and market assessment.
David has been engaged in the practice of healthcare consulting since 2002 and has been in the healthcare industry since 1987, when he entered the field as an x-ray technologist. Prior to becoming a consultant, he worked for several large health systems as a strategic planner.
David holds undergraduate degrees in x-ray technology and health services management from Indiana University. He also has both a Master of Hospital Administration degree and a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in quality management from Xavier University in Cincinnati.
David is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). He serves as a board member for the Indiana Healthcare Executives Network. Additionally, David has served on the governing board for the Indiana Heartland Federal Credit Union as a trustee and chairman.
