OKLAHOMA CITY – KSM Transport Advisors (KSMTA), the consulting arm of Katz, Sapper & Miller’s (KSM) Transportation Services Group and wholly-owned subsidiary of KSM Business Services, has expanded into Canada with the launch of KSMTA Canada Inc. To support this new business venture, KSMTA has appointed seasoned trucking industry veteran Chris Henry as chief operating officer of KSMTA Canada. Henry will be an instrumental part of introducing KSMTA’s freight network engineering and strategic planning services to the Canadian transportation market and further developing KSMTA’s overall infrastructure and suite of product and service offerings.

Henry is well known as the co-founder and former leader of StakUp, the developer of an online benchmarking platform that quickly became the trucking industry’s largest source of carrier financial and operational benchmark data. He was also instrumental in establishing StakUp’s joint venture with the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) to develop their TCA Profitability Program (TPP) benchmarking tool, which compares and contrasts trucking companies’ financial and operational performance.

While with TCA, Henry served as a facilitator for several TCA Best Practice Groups and helped grow carrier participation in its TPP by 300%. When StakUp was acquired by FreightWaves in 2019, Henry became its vice president of carrier profitability. Most recently, Chris served as vice president of customer experience and recognition programs for CarriersEdge, a leading provider of online training in the North American trucking industry and creators of the Best Fleets to Drive For recognition program which is produced in partnership with TCA. During Henry’s time with CarriersEdge, this recognition program achieved record growth over successive years.

“We are excited and honored to welcome Chris to KSMTA’s leadership team,” said David Roush, KSMTA president. “We’ve known and respected him personally and professionally for many years and he will be a valuable part of our operations. Our expansion into the Canadian market comes at a time when Canada’s transportation industry faces some massive challenges, from driver retention to the inflationary effects on equipment and other operational expenses.  We look forward to him growing our Canadian business opportunities and strengthening the KSMTA platform and product and service offerings.”

As COO, Henry will combine his extensive industry experience with KSMTA’s focus on carrier improvement. “Over the past eight years, I have had the privilege of learning what makes carriers outperform from both a financial perspective and from a culture and values perspective. In every case, these components are inextricably linked,” Henry said. “Starting with a foundation of strong profits, carriers can better invest in the right people, technology, and assets they need to develop programs to keep the people they have. My association and collaboration with the KSM/KSMTA team over the past seven years have led to many great opportunities, and I am honored to be chosen to work with this well-respected team of transportation professionals.”

Henry earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Nipissing University in Ontario, as well as an MBA from the University of Massachusetts. He will be based in London, Ontario.
