Better Together: Meet Our Fort Wayne Office

April 11, 2023

KSM

Located in the 202 Metro building in the heart of the city’s downtown, KSM’s Fort Wayne office is unique from other KSM offices in that it is the home of the firm’s fast-growing Outsourced Financing & Accounting Services Group. The OFAS team, together with a full team of tax and audit professionals, serve an impressive roster of clients across multiple industries.

What’s not unique is that, like other KSM offices – those in Indianapolis, New York, Evansville, and Oklahoma City – the Fort Wayne team places a high premium on collaboration and teamwork, an ethic that is modeled by the office’s leaders. This culture of “better together” means co-workers, managers, and partners all support one another, champion one another, and are happy to pull together to meet the needs of KSM’s clients, regardless of the task at hand.

We have a team of people that trust each other and respect each other. It’s a very collaborative environment that allows us to lean on each other when we need to. I think every firm would say this, but our people really do make us special.

“I see teamwork every day here, honestly,” says Sarah Braun, a senior associate with the Audit & Assurance Services Group. “If there’s an issue that I’m facing then we all put our heads together and accomplish the goal that we need to.”

“We have a team of people that trust each other and respect each other and is there to pitch in and help. It’s a very collaborative environment that allows us to lean on each other when we need to,” adds Amy Lehrman, Fort Wayne’s managing partner.

But “better together” goes beyond exceeding client expectations. It’s also about giving back to, and investing in, the Fort Wayne community. Inspired by the idea of leaving the world a better place than they found it, team members at KSM’s Fort Wayne office are encouraged to get involved with their favorite community organizations. Approximately 40% of the office’s employees, and nearly 70% of its leadership team, have done just that, supporting various members of the northeast Indiana city’s vibrant not-for-profit scene.

“Fort Wayne has so many not-for-profits and great not-for-profit leaders – just the feel of Fort Wayne is being involved in the community,” notes Zach Sauder, OFAS partner-in-charge and current board treasurer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Indiana.

With organizations like Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana, Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, Erin’s House for Grieving Children, and many other impactful not-for-profits that call Fort Wayne home, it’s easy to see why so many of the office’s team members have seized on the opportunity to give back to their community.
