The State of Philanthropy: An Analysis of Giving USA Data Trends From 2019 to Today

July 1, 2020

KSM

Philanthropic giving plays a crucial role in our communities, and it is the lifeblood for many not-for-profit organizations. Having an in-depth understanding of philanthropic trends and dynamics – especially in changing times – can help not-for-profits create effective fundraising strategies and thoughtfully prepare for the future.

On June 29, 2020, Katz, Sapper & Miller joined Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy’s Dr. Una Osili and Dr. Anna Pruitt to discuss findings in Giving USA 2020: The Annual Report on Philanthropy for the Year 2019 as well as future giving trends as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. Researched and written by the IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at IUPUI and published by Giving USA Foundation, the report is the longest running, most comprehensive study of its kind. It offers insights into the sources and uses of philanthropy in America, providing 65 years’ worth of data on giving trends in the U.S.

The webinar covered the following topics:

  • Philanthropic trends across the U.S.
  • Charitable giving in Indiana
  • COVID-19’s effect on philanthropy and what the future might hold
