Indiana Rural Health Annual Conference

Katz, Sapper & Miller’s Healthcare Resources Group, a sponsor of Indiana Rural Health Association (IRHA), will be exhibiting at the organization's 2016 Annual Conference. Taking place June 21-22 in French Lick, Ind., the conference will bring together healthcare professionals to discuss the latest trends and information related to rural healthcare.

Designed to provide educational healthcare programs that address the needs of rural Indiana communities and the medical professionals who serve them, the IRHA 2016 Annual Conference will feature over 40 sessions covering a wide range of topics, including the following:

  • Top 20 coding and documentation tips for 2016
  • Cybersecurity and compliance for hospital administrators
  • Pioneering new models of substance abuse recovery
  • Improving patient outcomes
  • Engaging physicians to offer direct-to-consumer virtual visits
  • Ensuring positive patient experiences in the revenue cycle
  • Crash test dummies and football players
  • The challenge of evaluation and management coding
  • Facility auditing and conservation of capital resources
  • Healthcare challenges in disaster recovery
  • Connecting children to health insurance via school-based outreach

Mark Caswell, director of business technology at KSM Consulting, will serve as a panelist in the session on disaster recovery challenges in the healthcare marketplace. Caswell will share insights and recommendations regarding data security and compliance for rural health institutions.

The keynote addresses will include a discussion of federal rural health policy by Tom Morris, associate administrator at the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy; a humorous examination of brain function by Joel Weintraub; and a testimony in overcoming disability by farmer Ed Bell.

Conference attendees will have two options for plenary sessions:

  1. A panel discussion on managing prescription drug abuse and HIV outbreaks, or
  2. A session covering the transition from fee-for-service reimbursement, population health management, and value-based purchasing.
