Brian Schmidt is a partner in Katz, Sapper & Miller’s Business Advisory Group. He serves as a trusted advisor to closely held, family-owned, and private equity-owned businesses in the middle market. He helps clients identify areas for growth and maximize savings opportunities.
While Brian advises clients on a variety of tax matters – from routine compliance to complex planning issues such as entity structuring – he also has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions, working with private equity and venture capital clients on efforts such as tax due diligence and related acquisition structuring.
Additionally, Brian co-chairs the firm’s Manufacturing & Distribution Services Group and is a member of the firm’s Transaction Advisory Services Group.
Brian received both a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a Master of Accountancy degree from Miami University. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, Brian also holds the designations of Certified Merger and Acquisition Advisor and Certified Manufacturing Professional.
Brian is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth (Indiana chapter), the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors, the American Institute of CPAs, the Indiana CPA Society, the Ohio CPA Society, and is a graduate of Leadership Indianapolis’ Leadership, Education and Development (LEAD) program. He previously served as board chair of School on Wheels.
