National Restaurant Association Provides Healthcare Law Update

Jim White of Katz, Sapper & Miller's Restaurant Services Group discusses the Affordable Care Act's impact on restaurants.

The Affordable Care Act’s employer mandate begins to take effect in 2015 for employers with more than 100 full-time equivalent employees. For employers with 50 to 99 full-time equivalent employees, the mandate will take effect in 2016.

The National Restaurant Association recently published an article on the next steps for employers, providing answers to the following questions:

  • Which employers will face penalties under the ACA?
  • To whom must healthcare coverage be offered?
  • What reports will employers be required to file?
  • What are the penalties for employers?
