The Manufacturing and Logistics 2010 National Report grades states in several areas of the economy that underlie the success of manufacturing and logistics. These specific measures include manufacturing and logistics health, human capital, the cost of benefits, the global position and diversification of the industries, state level productivity and innovation, the tax climate, and venture capital activities.
The Manufacturing and Logistics National Report details each of the measures and the methodologies behind those measures. The National Scorecard included within the National Report reveals that Indiana continues to be well positioned with regard to the manufacturing and logistics industries.
While Indiana ranks highly in terms of its global position, tax climate and logistic industry, concern continues to exist with regard to its diversification in the manufacturing sector and access to human capital (i.e., availability of a well trained and ready workforce).
