Satkumar Hemraj is a director in KSM’s New York office and a member of the firm’s Real Estate Services Group. With more than 20 years of experience in public accounting, Satkumar specializes in providing strategic tax planning and compliance services for real estate clients, helping them minimize tax liabilities and navigate complex regulatory requirements. He has extensive experience working with family-owned holdings across a variety of tax areas, including business, individual, fiduciary, international, and exempt filings.
Prior to joining KSM, Satkumar held various tax roles at several New York-based accounting firms, including a top 10 firm. He most recently served as a senior tax director with Shanholt Glassman Klein Kramer & Co., one of New York’s premier firms serving the real estate community.
An important lesson I’ve learned in my career is that lack of thoroughness invites Murphy’s inexorable law. Attention to detail is essential, because if something can go wrong, it often will.
Satkumar received a Master of Science degree in taxation from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. He also earned a Master of Business Administration degree in business management from Heriot-Watt University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting through the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in the U.K.
Satkumar is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Society of CPAs.
