Mike Greenwald is a partner in KSM’s New York office and a member of the firm’s Tax Services Group. Mike brings decades of public accounting experience helping clients navigate complex tax matters. His expertise includes partnership taxation, real estate, business transactions, and closely held companies. He works with clients to develop tax strategies that optimize transaction structures, address complex business challenges, and support long-term business objectives while maintaining compliance with evolving tax laws.

Mike serves clients across a broad range of industries, including private equity, real estate, construction, financial services, manufacturing, technology and media, wholesale distribution, and professional services. His experience includes domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, transaction structuring and due diligence, real estate transactions, ESOP consulting, bankruptcy tax matters, ASC 470 and FIN 48 consulting, litigation support, and tax planning for acquisitions and divestitures.

Prior to joining KSM, Mike was a partner and corporate and business tax practice leader at Friedman LLP, where he advised clients on complex federal tax matters and business transactions. He has also held leadership roles with national public accounting firms throughout his career. Mike is recognized throughout the profession for his technical leadership in partnership taxation.

Mike earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Study of the City from Yale University and a Master of Public and Private Management degree from the Yale School of Management.

Mike is an active member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). He has held numerous leadership roles with the organization, including serving as a member of the Tax Executive Committee and chair of the Partnership Taxation Technical Resource Panel. He is currently an elected At-Large member of AICPA Council and serves on the AICPA Strategic Tax Reform Advisory Group, IRS Advocacy & Relations Committee, and ESG Task Force.
