Mary Warmus is a director in KSM’s Chicago office and a member of the firm’s Valuation Services Group. Mary provides valuation services for closely held businesses, their securities, debt instruments, and intellectual property for tax and strategic planning, acquisition and exit planning, litigation, employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) transactions, and financing purposes. She helps clients navigate complex valuation matters and develop strategic insights to support informed business and transactional decisions.
With more than 35 years of experience, Mary’s business valuation work spans a variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, printing, agriculture, professional services, healthcare, logistics, computer software and consulting, auto dealerships, and investment holding companies, including partnerships. She has also served as an expert witness in both federal and state court.
Prior to joining KSM, Mary served as a director in the business valuation services practice at MichaelSilver, an independent advisory, tax, and assurance firm in the Chicagoland area. Earlier in her career, Mary was a tax consultant, focusing on research and compliance matters for corporations, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals. She also previously served as an adjunct professor at DePaul University, where she taught the tax valuations course in the Master of Science in Taxation program.

Mary earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy from DePaul University and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from Loyola University Chicago. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds the Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation in Business Valuation from the American Society of Appraisers.
Mary is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Illinois CPA Society, the American Society of Appraisers, the Association for Corporate Growth, the Chicago Estate Planning Council, and the South Suburban Estate Planning Council. She is also active in various civic, religious, and charitable organizations.
