Katy Giesecke is a partner in KSM’s Chicago office and a member of the firm’s Business Advisory Group. With more than 30 years of tax planning and compliance experience, Katy helps high net worth individuals, privately held businesses, and multigenerational families navigate complex tax and wealth transfer challenges to achieve their long term financial goals. Katy has expertise in trust, estate, and gift tax planning.

Prior to joining KSM, Katy was a partner at MichaelSilver, an independent advisory, tax, and assurance firm in the Chicagoland area, where she assisted clients with complex tax matters.

My father taught me, “Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” I’ve found that fulfillment in helping families pass on what they’ve built: wealth, values, and opportunities for future generations to pursue their own passions.

Katy earned both a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Katy is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Illinois CPA Society. She serves on the Illinois CPA Society’s Taxation Estate, Gift & Trusts Committee and is on the board of directors of the Greater North Shore Estate & Financial Planning Council, where she serves as treasurer. Katy also volunteers with Citizens for Conservation, a volunteer-driven nonprofit focused on restoring and protecting the natural landscapes of northeastern Illinois.
