Jamie Ellis

Partner, Chief Operating Officer, CPA

Jamie Ellis is partner and chief operating officer for Katz, Sapper & Miller. With more than 25 years of experience in professional services, Jamie oversees the finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, facilities, and general operational functions of the firm. He is also a member of KSM’s executive committee, a five-person leadership team that sets and oversees the firm’s strategic direction.

Jamie, who began his career as a public accounting auditor, previously served as corporate controller for a subsidiary of a national staffing firm, the chief financial officer of a regional CPA firm, and the chief operating officer of a regional law firm.

Early on, I realized that people are the key to everything – period. Technical aspects of the job are learned, while people are grown. Spend 90% of your time growing people and your company will prosper.

Jamie received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, with a minor in economics, from The Pennsylvania State University. Additionally, he earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola University of Maryland. Jamie is a Certified Public Accountant in the states of Indiana and Maryland.

Jamie is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Indiana CPA Society, and Financial Executives International. He currently serves on the board, finance, and audit committees of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and serves as vice chair of the American Lung Association (ALA) in Indiana. Additionally, Jamie serves as chair of the North American Regional Advisory Council for PrimeGlobal, one of the world’s largest international associations of accounting firms. He is also a member of the Integrating Women Leaders’ Male Ally Advisory Group.
