Alaina Shonkwiler is a manager of government consulting with Katz, Sapper & Miller. Alaina leverages her extensive experience within the public sector to help local, state, and federal government clients efficiently oversee their programs, grants, and federal funding. Adept in government systems and project management, Alaina uses her skills to help clients reclaim valuable time and resources, enabling them to focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for their communities.

Over the course of her career, Alaina has worked with elected officials and executives and has strengthened public-private partnerships. She has successfully utilized state grant opportunities to further regional workforce development initiatives, implemented award-winning collaborative quality-of-place initiatives, and created a state designated cultural arts district in her community.

Prior to joining KSM, she served as a director of community and economic development for an Indianapolis-based firm that works with public and private owners in real estate development, construction, and economic development.

Alaina received a Bachelor of Science degree in public affairs management from Indiana University and is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute. Additionally, she received a community development certificate from Ball State University. Alaina is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in organizational leadership with a focus on public administration from Northcentral University.

Alaina is in the process of completing the Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) Certification ProgramTM through the National Development Council.

Alaina is a member of the National Association of Community Development Extension Professionals, the International Economic Development Council, the Urban Land Institute, and the Association for Career & Technical Education. She is a 2013 graduate of the Hamilton County Leadership Academy (HCLA). Alaina previously served as board president for HCLA and as vice president for the City of Noblesville’s Community Development Corporation.
