Katz, Sapper & Miller’s Terry O’Neil and Beth Scott will present at a new veterinary conference presented by the American Animal Hospital Assocation (AAHA). Taking place Sept. 13-16 in Denver, CO, Connexity will focus on finding solutions to the everyday challenges that veterinary practices face by utilizing interactive learning techniques such as field trips, case study work, and small group problem-solving.

O’Neil and Scott, who are members of KSM’s Veterinary Services Group, will help equip veterinary owners and practice managers with the tools they need to improve hospital profitability. Their presentations will include the following:

Trends at the Most-Profitable Veterinary Hospitals

This session will review global practice statistics, helping owners and veterinarians gain a greater understanding of how to interpret their own numbers and devise strategies to increase growth.

Managing Labor and Direct Costs: Stop Chasing Pennies and Save a Dollar

Labor, benefits, and direct costs are the most expensive cost categories for a veterinary practice. During this session, attendees will review various aspects of labor management and direct costs, including hiring, employee evaluations, compensation models and benefits, and inventory costs.

Other conference topics will include culture transformation, developing intentional leadership, marketing a practice to retain talent, adding new services and products, and preparing for the impact of telehealth. The conference will also focus on meaningful networking opportunities, helping veterinarians foster connection at a time when many in the profession are suffering from feelings of isolation and disconnection.
