Location:Great Wolf Lodge

LaGrange, GA 30240

Katz, Sapper & Miller’s Terry O’Neil and Beth Scott will present at the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association’s (GVMA) Practice Owners Conference. Taking place on Aug. 23-25 at Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange, GA, the event will cover key areas of practice operations, including human resources, financial management, and practice optimization.

O’Neil and Scott, members of KSM’s Veterinary Services Group, will review several key financial management issues affecting veterinary hospitals. Their three presentations on Friday, Aug. 23 will include the following:

  • Tips and Trends for Selling Your Practice to Associates
It’s no secret that corporate buyers have entered the veterinary market and are paying top dollar. But the record-high multiples offered by corporations have led many to believe that private buyers simply cannot compete. While it’s true that private buyers often don’t have the same deep pockets as corporate buyers, a sale to a private buyer can yield the same after-tax cash flow as a corporate offer. This session will cover tips and trends for selling a veterinary hospital to an associate and how to maximize the investment.
  • Expense to Revenue Ratios/Best Practices in Financial Management
How does your practice stack up against the national average? How does it compare to the top 20% of most-profitable veterinary hospitals? In this session, the current global statistics will be interpreted to develop insights into veterinary business performance. The session will also include a discussion on business analytics, including interpreting results, making analytics-based decisions, and measuring results. Attendees will also hear about the latest issues and trends in veterinary practices – such as online/low-cost competition, telemedicine, forward scheduling, and more.
  • Financial Q&A

Other topics to be covered at the Practice Owners Conference include practice optimization, attracting and retaining staff, human resources best practices, and more. Additionally, the event will occur alongside GVMA’s Young Professionals Conference.
