Terry O’Neil, partner-in-charge of Katz, Sapper & Miller’s Veterinary Services Group, will present several educational sessions at the American Veterinary Medical Association's (AVMA) 2017 Convention. Taking place July 21-25 in Indianapolis, IN, this annual convention brings together thousands of veterinary professionals for discussion, networking and educational opportunities.

O’Neil will present on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22. His sessions will focus on improving hospital profitability and will include the following:

Key Performance Indicators

This session will demystify key performance indicators (KPIs) and will teach owners and DVMs simple systems for using them in their practice while avoiding information overload. Examples throughout the session will show how KPIs can be applied in a veterinary practice to reduce expense and to implement best practices.

Financial Statements

Going beyond the basics of financial statements, this session will get to the heart of the matter – why a fundamental understanding of financial statements will help ensure a hospital’s well-being. Topics covered will include which method of accounting to use, valuable ways to read financials, how to use financials as a measure of progress toward goals and more.

Taking Your Practice Budget to the Next Level

In this session, owners and DVMs will learn how to create a strategic plan for their hospital as well as how to create and implement a budget. Topics will include how to run a strategic planning meeting, what basic information is required to establish a budget and how owners and DVMs can follow up to ensure the hospital stays on the path to realizing its dream.

This session will provide attendees the opportunity to ask questions related to practice operations, budgeting, financial statements and more. O’Neil will address these questions and will share his insights on a variety of other business, financial and tax issues that veterinary practice managers may encounter.

KSM will also be exhibiting at the event.
