Katz, Sapper & Miller’s Brian Schmidt and Rosanne Ammirati will serve as panelists at  Faegre' Baker Daniels' 2016 M&A Conference. Taking place June 9 at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis, the conference provides dealmakers the opportunity to learn about the latest industry trends, discuss complex mergers and acquisitions (M&A) topics and network with others in the local M&A community.

Ammirati will serve as a panelist at the session “Tax Issues in M&A – Look Before You Leap.” Beyond discussing common tax matters encountered in deal-making, the session will explore crucial tax issues dealmakers should consider prior to a transaction. Ammirati, who is a partner in Katz, Sapper & Miller’s Tax Services Group, has been with the firm since 1987. Her responsibilities include tax research and tax planning for business entities, individuals, estates and trusts.

Serving as a panelist at the session titled “M&A and Succession Planning for Closely-Held Businesses,” Schmidt will share his personal transaction experiences from working with closely-held and family-owned businesses. Schmidt, a partner in Katz, Sapper & Miller’s Business Advisory Group, provides tax planning and strategies, tax compliance, financial statement analysis, mergers and acquisitions services, and financing assistance to a wide variety of businesses and industries. Kyle Hupfer, Chief Administrative Officer and general counsel at IMMI, and Karen Mersereau, managing director at Oxford Financial Group, will join Schmidt as panelists for this session.

The Indianapolis conference, in its fourth year, will feature panelists who are industry leaders in finance, tax, accounting, law, investment banking and strategic and private equity. Other topics covered at the conference will include current trends in M&A deal terms and tactics, acquiring distressed assets and the outlook for the M&A industry. The event also will include a networking reception.
