PROFILE

Donna Niesen is a partner in Katz, Sapper & Miller’s State and Local Tax Group. She has been with the firm since 2005. Donna helps keep clients up-to-date on the multitude of income and sales tax rules and requirements in all 50 states. She guides them in the right direction as they address the complex issues that emerge on both the state and local levels. Prior to joining the firm, Donna spent eight years specializing in state and local tax consulting with two Big 4 firms, focusing on multistate income and sales tax issues.

Donna’s experience with state and local taxes in all 50 states enables her to effectively serve the firm’s multistate clients in all domestic jurisdictions. She has significant experience assisting clients in the areas of manufacturing and distribution, financial services, life sciences, computer software and consulting firms, retail, healthcare, transportation and logistics, and other industries.

EDUCATION

Donna earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Marian College. She is licensed to practice in Indiana and Arizona.

ASSOCIATIONS AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Donna is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Indiana CPA Society, where we serves on the Tax Resource Advisory Council. Additionally, Donna serves on the Indiana Manufacturers Association’s Tax Committee, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce Tax Policy Committee, and the Advisory Council to the Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Revenue. She was a finalist for Junior Achievement of Central Indiana’s Best and Brightest Award in 2008 and 2009. Within the firm, Donna has led KSM’s “green” initiative as co-chair of Katz Sapper & Miller’s Go Green Committee.
