Donna Niesen is a partner in Katz, Sapper & Miller’s State and Local Tax Group. She has been with the firm since 2005. Donna provides a wide variety of tax consulting services in the areas of multistate sales and income taxes, business incentives, controversy services, and other state taxes. Her assistance on these projects includes negotiating settlements with taxing jurisdictions, coordinating multistate tax research, and assisting with complex multistate tax compliance. Before joining the firm, Donna specialized in state and local tax consulting with two Big Four state and local tax practices for eight years, focusing on multistate income and sales tax issues.
Donna’s experience with state and local taxes in all 50 states enables her to effectively serve the firm’s multistate clients in all domestic jurisdictions. She has significant experience assisting clients in the areas of manufacturing and distribution, financial services, life sciences, computer software and consulting firms, retail, healthcare, transportation and logistics, and other industries.
Donna earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Marian College. She is licensed to practice in Indiana and Arizona.
Donna is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Indiana CPA Society. Additionally, she serves on the Indiana Manufacturers Association’s Tax Committee and is a member of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful’s Young Professionals Group. Donna was a participant in the inaugural year of “SOAR,” a professional development program designed to enhance the business skills of future leading businesswomen in Indiana. She was also a finalist for Junior Achievement of Central Indiana’s Best and Brightest Award (accounting category) in both 2008 and 2009. Within the firm, Donna has led KSM’s “green” initiative as co-chair of Katz, Sapper & Miller’s Go Green Committee.
