Stepping Up to Support Our Communities During the COVID-19 Outbreak

KSM

Since Katz, Sapper & Miller’s founding nearly 80 years ago, community involvement has been central to our firm’s identity. As KSM’s vision states: “We invest in our communities because everyone at KSM believes that it’s the right thing to do.”

Investment in our communities has been more important than ever during this unprecedented coronavirus health crisis. Businesses and individuals throughout the country have answered the call and rallied together to support each other and our most vulnerable populations.

Right now, some central Indiana families are especially challenged to consistently put meals on their tables every day. While the situation is ever evolving, we know that the demand for access to food will increase as this virus continues to affect our state and the entire country.

This week, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay called on residents to support Gleaners Food Bank, one of the oldest hunger-fighting food banks in the nation. Mr. Irsay issued a challenge: If the community could raise $200,000, then he would donate $1 million to fight hunger.

We were proud to step up to the challenge with our donation of $10,000 and are honored to play a small part in this important cause. (And thrilled that Mr. Irsay’s challenge has since been met and vastly surpassed.)

“It is imperative that we help those who are in the most need during this uncertain time. We appreciate Jim Irsay bringing this issue to the forefront, allowing us the opportunity to help alleviate the lack of access to food in our community,” said David Resnick, KSM’s managing partner. “Let’s continue to come together for each other and for our neighbors who may be less fortunate than we are.”

These contributions will help Gleaners Food Bank provide almost three weeks of meals for Indianapolis Public School households as part of its drive-through meal pick-up service. Gleaner’s meals will go a long way toward helping the one in seven people in central and southeast Indiana struggling with hunger and food insecurity.

And there’s more to be done. As you and your family watch out for the health and safety of your loved ones, please consider members of our community who could use a helping hand. If you are able, please join us in making a contribution to Gleaners or other local organizations that work to support the care of those in need, especially during this critical time.
