ICD-10: Implementation Controversy

Implementation and use of the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition, Clinical Modification/Procedure Coding System (ICD-10) continues to be a controversy among health care professionals. This debate will only continue with the one year delay in implementation by the U.S Department of Health and Human Services.

Manufacturers Successfully Fighting High Unemployment

Unemployment is undoubtedly high in the U.S., and many wonder if there is hope of bringing it down anytime soon. On the flip side, many manufacturing companies are having a hard time finding workers. Those two statements don't seem to make sense when stated back-to-back.

"Made in America" Comeback Good for Manufacturers

As the U.S. continues to work its way out of the most recent recession and with unemployment remaining fairly high, many consumers are starting to become more aware of where products are being are made. The idea of of buying "Made in America" is growing among consumers, and the timing could not be any better for U.S. manufactures.

New On-Shoring Trend in the Manufacturing Industry

For many years, off-shoring was an upward trend in the manufacturing industry. Off-shoring jobs to China, for example, was a popular inventory cost control method for many manufacturers as China was seen as cheaper labor.

Buy-Sell Agreements: Key to Any Physician's Succession Plan

Buy-in/buy-out agreements are key to any physician practice’s succession plan.  Without a buy-sell agreement, practices are destined to sudden death. The buy-sell agreement is the instruction manual for bringing new physician partners to the practice group or assisting with the departure of physician partners.

The Future of Manufacturing

In April 2012, the World Economic Forum released a study titled The Future of Manufacturing: Opportunities to Drive Economic Growth. The study identified seven trends that they believe will require the attention of policy-makers, civil society and business leaders in order to drive economic growth through manufacturing over the next 20 years.

Congress Approaches FASB on Lease Accounting Standards

For several years now, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) have been working to update the accounting for lease in an effort to shed more light on off-balance sheet leasing (i.e., operating leases).
