Katz, Sapper & Miller’s Beth Scott, a director in the firm’s Veterinary Services Group, will present at the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) Summer Conference. Taking place June 4 at French Lick Resort in southern Indiana, this conference provides attendees with continuing education and networking opportunities.
Scott will lead four separate sessions related to topics in veterinary practice management:
- Alternative DVM Compensation Models
This session will review the pros and cons of different DVM compensation methods, such as salary, salary plus commission, alternative commission amounts and more.
- Profit Enhancement
Beyond discussing which methods work to increase net income, this session will provide attendees with actionable steps to enhance profit at their own veterinary hospital.
- A DVM’s Guide to Reviewing and Interpreting the Numbers
In addition to providing an overview of veterinary hospital financial statements, this session will summarize various accounting methods and will explain which method should be used to better manage a hospital’s financial well-being.
- Financial Planning and Retirement Plan Alternatives
Creating a financial plan, preparing a budget and weighing retirement plan types are just a few of the topics that Scott will cover in this session.

Joining Scott as a presenter will be Dr. Nolie Parnell, a clinical associate professor of small animal internal medicine at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. Parnell’s sessions will focus on small animal clinic nutrition and gastroenterology.
