In March 2016, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) issued Accounting Standards Update (ASU) No. 2016-03, Intangibles – Goodwill and Other (Topic 350), Business Combinations (Topic 805), Consolidation (Topic 810), Derivatives and Hedging (Topic 815): Effective Date and Transition Guidance (a consensus of the Private Company Council) (ASU No. 2016-03).

The Trend Toward Local-for-Local Manufacturing

Reshoring manufacturing jobs back to the United States has been a hot topic in the industry for the past few years. The question is, why should your company consider it? Some might argue that it’s a matter of patriotism; others argue it’s a simple matter of economics – manufacturers want to bring production closer to the actual consumers of their products.

Indiana’s Manufacturing and Logistics Report Card: Good Grades but Looming Threats

More than 250,000 Hoosiers make their living working in advanced manufacturing. Nationally, Indiana has the third highest employment numbers in the sector, and recent data indicates Indiana has a healthy economic outlook going forward compared to other states in the region.

Tax Credit Partnerships: Where Are They Now?

Like Everett McGill from O Brother, Where Art Thou, those in tax credit partnerships for projects that rehabilitate historic buildings want to be perceived as “bona fide.” In the wild west of tax credit syndication (pre-2012), partners did not worry about this Latin term.

Technology Is Changing the Demands, Processes and Labor in Manufacturing

Today’s consumers want the “smartest” product on the market. They want the newest make and model. They want options, upgrades, and customized products that keep them connected. As if that’s not enough, they wanted it all yesterday. Gone are the days of mass-produced “vanilla” widgets that take months to produce.
