First Indianapolis accounting firm to be awarded Green Business designation

Indianapolis, IN (January 12, 2010) – The certified public accounting firm of Katz, Sapper & Miller, LLP was recently awarded “green” membership for its proactive engagement in environmentally-responsive and “green” business operations through the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce’s Green Business Initiative (GBI). Katz, Sapper & Miller is the first and currently only Indianapolis accounting firm to be awarded the designation.

Companies selected for the Chamber’s “green” membership are engaged in green business practices and operations in many areas including waste prevention, recycling, purchasing, energy conservation, water conservation and transportation. Examples of Katz, Sapper & Miller’s green efforts include having implemented a “less-paper” initiative aimed at performing multiple tasks electronically, including tax return and audit report preparation, filing, and storage;  placing  paper and plastic recycling bins throughout the firm as well as personal recycle bins in individual offices; distributing refillable BPA-free water bottles to staff to reduce the consumption of commercially bottled water; and encouraging staff to turn off lights and appliances in unoccupied conference rooms and offices. The firm has also established a Go Green Committee to help create a culture of environmental responsibility.

“We are pleased to have been selected to participate in the Indianapolis Chamber’s Green Business Initiative,” said David Resnick, Managing Partner for Katz, Sapper & Miller. “As a business member in our community, we recognize environmentally-sound practices within our firm and have discovered that it is not only good for our environment, but can provide cost-savings as well.”
